    Description

This is for auction is local pick up only, please message me it you would like it shipped
I will list a auction with shipping if my converter will run your machine
This auction is for a 1hp to 3hp static phase converter in a NEMA enclosure.
It will start and run a 1 hp to 3 hp three phase motor on single phase 220 volt power.
If you have a small mill, lathe or table saw this converter will probably work.
If you use this converter panel to start a 1 to 3 horsepower 3-phase motor you will have a rotary converter.
If you are near downtown Los Angeles you may pick up the converter for free.
I will connect the converter to 220 single phase power for you to see the converter work before we complete our transaction.
    ************************************************
    This converter is only for
    small machines
and or motors between one and three horsepower.
Medium or hard start machines will need a rotary converter two or three times the size of the motor you want to start.
    ************************************************
The most common mistake when buying a converter is choosing one too small, too big or the wrong type, a static when you need a rotary.
If possible contact the company that made your machine to confirm what size converter you will need to run your machine.
If you are not able to contact the manufacture message me the horsepower of the motor in your machine and the type of machine you want to run.
    ************************************************
Figuring out what type and what size phase converter to buy shouldn't be hard but it is amazingly difficult.
The first problem is there two types, static and rotary.
A static converter can start a three phase motor but because it is running on single phase it will not have full power.
If you want full power you will need a rotary converter that uses a three phase motor to generate the third leg of power.
I say generate but I realize the idler motor is not a generator, rather it shifts one of the phases to create the third leg of power.
Buying a static converter bigger than the horsepower of the motor in your machine is not recommended.
Buy the size that matches the horsepower of the motor you want to run.
This is not true when buying or building a rotary converter, you can run a small motor with a large rotary converter without any problems.
When you choose a idler motor for a rotary phase converter be sure to choose one that is bigger than the motor you want to run.

After I retired I wanted to do something I enjoyed to stay busy, I rented a small space and started working my two door 57 Chevy. For the enthusiast, it's a 210.
My next door neighbor, an auto body shop had a problem with his compressor and the owner complained that it was going to cost 0 to replace the 10hp motor.
Although I had never worked on a compressor before I had a lot of experience changing motors when I was a helper in a machine shop as a teenager.
We shopped around and found a new Leeson motor for 0 and I changed it for free.
What does this have to do with selling phase converter?  After fixing the neighbor's compressor other body shops called me when they need help with their compressors.
    P
art of fixing compressors is changing three phase motors to single phase motors when a shop changes locations and I sometimes ended up with the old motor.
    One day a visiting friend
suggested that I use the motors to make phase converters.
I have advertised and sold converters in Los Angeles for 12 years and
if you are near Los Angeles and need a rotary converters up to 40hp message me for a price and I will list an auction for you. I am limited to 40hp by my 100 amp electrical panel.

If you are reading this sentence you must need a phase converter and realize firguring out what to buy is hard.
I will try to help by recommending what I think are the best phase converters.
If you do not need balanced voltages and want a easy to install converter and have a three phase motor 7.5hp or smaller I think the static Phase a Matic is the best choice.
If you need a rotary converter I have worked on North American Converters and America Rotary Converters and I think they are both excellent.
There are lot of other manufactures but because I do not have personal experience with them I cannot recommend them.
